About Our Church
The German Reformed Church, now the United Church of Christ, was founded in 1725 with a rich history beginning even before our independence as a nation was declared. It was in 1870 that a small group of dedicated Christians were moved to separate from Lower Saucon and form a new congregation, the Reformed Church in the village of Hellertown. First United Church Hellertown, then called Christ Evangelical Reformed Church, was a diverse community of believers brought together as a congregation at Penn and Northampton Streets in 1937.
First United Church of Christ Hellertown celebrated its 151 birthday in 2022. Our church has been blessed with gifted ministers and staff to lead our spiritual needs and to witness to the community. Our history consists of the worship and witness of the many faithful persons who belonged to the Church.

Who We Are
The members of First United Church Hellertown welcome all persons, regardless of ethnic heritage, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds. We believe that each of us is unique and valuable.
We believe we are all on a spiritual journey and in various stages of learning. We believe even little changes can make big differences.
We believe that our church brings people together to hear God’s Word, helps us grow in our love for God and all people, and leads us to know the value of serving others.
Ministry and Mission
Ministry can take many forms, preaching of the Gospel to adults and children, visiting the sick and homebound, and feeding the hungry. We at First Church take all these missions seriously and have a vast number of volunteers that take active roles in administering them.
